So that if you face an unexpected job loss, theft or natural disaster, medical emergency, or any event that takes you by surprise, you have some financial security to back you up. This calculator asks for your basic monthly lifestyle expenses and calculates the savings you should have in an emergency fund. We can’t stop bad stuff from happening but can prepare for it.
